Heart of Gold

This piece was made for my son who lives in Washington.
He has a heart of gold.
The intention of these meditation beads is to symbolize his:

Funny side—
Flexible, rad & random, wildly musical, spontaneous, creative, easygoing, a relaxed companion, liberally sprinkled with side-splitting hilarity.

Serious side—Strength, Loyalty, determination, protection, able to do hard things, wisdom through experience, endurance over long periods and when life gets tough, firmness in personal truth. The gears and metal parts indicate his intelligence and ability to work things out.

His heart of gold—Has a golden warrior at the center, a faithful father, a loyal lover, whose natural instinct is protection of the weak and vulnerable, tenderness to the small and young, the gift of generosity and joy, has kind eyes, gives everyone a chance, and genuinely cares, has a quiet center.

Turtle Goes Traveling

I found this dyed bone Turtle and loved its personality. So I fashioned it into a clip to hang on my daughter’s hip pack when she explores the ruins and rock art of Arizona.

The red-orange beads on the leather strand remind me of Indian pottery, and the big bone bead evokes the feeling of archeology.

This piece even has a tiny voice. It has silver bells that give a little jingle as they sway.

Warmth & Light

I made these in the last months of Winter.  I was cold outside and inside.  So I gathered amber resin beads full of yellows, golds, and reds, along with some tangerine crackle glass.  Then I strung them with opalite and shell for spiritual warmth, and made a loop to go around my wrist while I held the rest in my hand.  Ahhh.  Warmth.

To Celebrate the New Baby

These are a real accomplishment.  They are the first meditation beads I ever made by myself.  I had just learned the skill and I was excited to experiment.  I wanted to bring something special to give to my nephew's wife at her baby shower.  So I decided to make some beads in honor of the fun, innocence, and  love of a new baby.

Intimacy

I made these meditation beads for our anniversary.  (Click on the pictures for a larger view.)  They symbolize two very different people interacting and coming together.  It is about communication on all levels.  Starting out separately in our own worlds, and then through focus, listening, interaction, and awareness, intertwining and becoming unified in joy and understanding.

It also has to do with energy, passion, lifeblood and infinity.

Here they are basking in the sun on the windowsill.

Mystery

These meditation beads were made for my daughter Lisa, the born aecheologist, as a present honoring her fearless spirit as she explores the mysteries of the earth and the universe.

The inspiration for this piece was the Hollow Little Bone bead that represents letting the mystery work us rather than us trying to work the mystery.

It represents the Outer life and the Inner life.
The mysteries of the Earth and the mysteries of the Universe.
The Light self and the Shadow self, with its intrinsic treasures.
The physical body surrounded by the spirit, with black and white - yin & yang on each side.
The stars, the moon, and the night sky - The rotating earth, the pyramids, the building stones, the rocks and minerals.
These many worlds overlapping and intertwining.
